How to edit or void a customer payment

After a customer payment has been applied to an open invoice, the transaction is posted to the general ledger.

To edit an applied customer payment:

  • Navigate to Income > Customer Payments
  • Scroll down to the Payments section
  • Locate the payment you would like to edit, and click the pencil icon
  • Edit the payment details and click "Save"

Note: Because the transaction has already been posted to the ledger, only the payment type and date can be edited. If customer information or payment allocation needs to be edited, the payment will need to be voided and reentered.

To void an applied customer payment:

  • Navigate to Income > Customer Payments
  • Scroll down to the Payments section
  • Locate the payment you would like to void, and click the void icon
  • When the confirmation window opens, click "Yes".
